Therapy For Women in Philadelphia
Medication isn’t the only piece of the puzzle. At Sunstone Psychiatry for Women, therapy is woven into the psychiatric care we provide, helping you process what’s going on beneath the symptoms, not just manage them.
We offer supportive psychotherapy integrated with psychiatric care for women throughout Philadelphia and Pennsylvania, and we coordinate closely with outside therapists when additional, ongoing talk therapy is the right fit.
At Sunstone Psychiatry for Women, we provide individualized psychiatric care for women in Pennsylvania. Our goal is to help you navigate life transitions and hormonal changes with clarity.
What Is Therapy Integrated With Psychiatric Care?
Many of our patients benefit from combining medication management with supportive psychotherapy in the same visit. Our extended, 50-minute appointments allow time for both — reviewing your symptoms and treatment response, while also making space for deeper conversation about what’s contributing to how you’re feeling.
This integrated approach means you’re not splitting your care across multiple unconnected providers for routine follow-up — your psychiatrist already has the full clinical picture.
Therapy and medication management aren’t competing approaches — for many women, they’re most effective together. Medication can help stabilize symptoms like anxiety, low mood, or emotional reactivity enough to make the work of therapy more accessible, while therapy helps address the patterns, relationships, and life circumstances that medication alone doesn’t touch.

Coordinated Care With Outside Therapists
For patients who want or need more frequent, dedicated talk therapy, we coordinate care with outside therapists and psychotherapy practices. Sunstone maintains a clinical collaboration with The Postpartum Stress Center, a nationally recognized perinatal psychotherapy practice, and we’re glad to communicate with your existing therapist as part of your care — always with your consent.

FAQs About Therapy For Women in Philadelphia
Does Sunstone offer standalone therapy without medication?
Our therapy support is delivered as part of integrated psychiatric visits rather than as separate, medication-free therapy sessions. If standalone weekly therapy is what you’re looking for, we’re happy to help coordinate a referral to a therapist, including our partners at The Postpartum Stress Center.
Is therapy included in every appointment?
Supportive psychotherapy is typically incorporated into our extended, 50-minute visits. Your psychiatrist will discuss the appointment length and structure that fits your treatment plan.
Do you work with my existing therapist?
Yes. With your consent, we’re glad to coordinate care with a therapist you’re already seeing to ensure your treatment is aligned.
Do I need to be located in Pennsylvania?
Yes — you must be physically located in Pennsylvania at the time of each appointment.
Do you accept insurance?
Sunstone is a self-pay, out-of-network practice. A superbill is available upon request for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
What issues can therapy help with?
Our integrated therapy support addresses anxiety, depression, PMDD, perinatal and postpartum adjustment, perimenopause-related mood changes, and broader life transitions.
Are you currently accepting new patients?
