Psychiatric Medication Management

Whether you’re exploring medication for the first time, looking for answers about ongoing symptoms, or seeking a more individualized approach to psychiatric care, we’re here to help you take the next step.

For some women, symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and mood changes are influenced by a combination of life experiences and biological, hormonal, and neurological factors. A comprehensive psychiatric evaluation can help clarify these contributing factors and determine whether medication may provide relief and greater stability. Sunstone Psychiatry for Women offers psychiatric medication management services in Pennsylvania.

MEDICATION MANAGEMENT AT SUNSTONE: OUR PHILOSOPHY OF CARE

At Sunstone, we view psychiatry as much more than prescribing medication. Our approach to psychiatric care considers the many factors that can influence mental health, including hormonal and reproductive health, life experiences, medical history, current symptoms, and personal goals.

We believe mental health treatment extends beyond medication. We help patients build realistic, sustainable habits around sleep, hydration, nourishing foods, and intentional movement, while also considering less obvious influences such as gut health. Through the gut–brain connection, a diverse gut microbiome may help support a healthy mood and overall well-being—which is why we encourage fiber-rich whole foods and fewer ultraprocessed foods alongside medication as part of an integrative approach to mental health care.

Could Psychiatric Medication Management Be Right for You?

Therapy can be immensely helpful, but there are times when additional psychiatric care may be beneficial. Medication management is not intended to replace therapy. Instead, it can complement therapy by addressing symptoms that may be making daily life more difficult.

Our psychiatrists consider patterns in your symptoms, life experiences, hormonal changes, medical history, and previous treatments when determining whether medication may be an appropriate part of your care. If you’re uncertain whether psychiatric treatment is right for you, the following experiences may indicate that an evaluation could be helpful.

Our Approach to Psychiatric Medication Management

At Sunstone, psychiatric care is collaborative, individualized, and clinically grounded. We take the time to understand not only your symptoms, but also the patterns, triggers, and life-stage factors that may be influencing them.

Medication is never considered in isolation. When prescribed, it is incorporated into a broader understanding of your mental health, overall well-being, and long-term goals.

  • Initial Psychiatric Evaluation (60 or 90 minutes)
  • Follow-up Medication Management (25 minutes)
  • Combined Psychotherapy & Medication Management (50 minutes)

This structure allows us to give medication-focused visits the time they deserve, while also keeping space in therapy sessions for deeper emotional work, pattern exploration, and continued support.
