Therapy For Women in Philadelphia

Sunstone Psychiatry offers therapy for women in Philadelphia, integrating supportive psychotherapy with individualized psychiatric care.

Medication isn’t the only piece of the puzzle. At Sunstone Psychiatry, therapy is woven into the psychiatric care we provide, helping you process what’s going on beneath the symptoms, not just manage them.

We offer supportive psychotherapy integrated with psychiatric care for women throughout Pennsylvania, and we coordinate closely with outside therapists when additional or specialized psychotherapy is the right fit.

At Sunstone Psychiatry, we provide individualized psychiatric care for women in Pennsylvania. Our goal is to help you navigate life transitions and hormonal changes with clarity.

Therapy Within Psychiatric Care

Many of our patients benefit from an integrated approach that incorporates supportive psychotherapy into every psychiatric visit, alongside medication management. Therapy is woven naturally into our appointments, providing space to explore symptoms, emotions, stressors, relationships, and the factors influencing your mental health while also assessing treatment response and making thoughtful adjustments to your care.

When extra time would be beneficial, we also offer extended, 50-minute appointments that allow for more in-depth therapeutic work while maintaining the continuity of your psychiatric care. This approach allows your psychiatrist to consider the full clinical picture and address both medication and therapeutic needs within the same relationship, rather than requiring you to divide routine psychiatric and therapeutic care among multiple practitioners.

Therapy and medication management aren’t competing approaches — for many women, they’re most effective together. Medication can help stabilize symptoms like anxiety, low mood, or emotional reactivity enough to make the work of therapy more accessible, while therapy helps address the patterns, relationships, and life circumstances that medication alone doesn’t touch.

For patients who would benefit from more in-depth psychotherapy, we offer 50-minute appointments scheduled weekly or every one to three weeks. These visits combine supportive psychotherapy with psychodynamic psychotherapy rooted in object relations theory—an approach that explores how early relationships and experiences may shape current emotional patterns, relationships, and ways of understanding yourself.
